Premiering in 2024, this manikin division is receiving much anticipation.
Your entry will be chosen from 5 categories, multiple ribbon categories, and a critique sheet by respective judge. Final selection made by judge panel from all blue ribbons.
Degree of necessary detail for the species.
Anatomical accuracy, balance, and locomotion.
Attractive and/or dynamic pose for the species.
Degree of difficulty factored in.
Surface does not require scoring or “roughing up”.
Practice a piece and enter it in the Manikin Pre-Made Division, then compete in the LIVE Manikin Championships on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, doing it again, having already practiced. Alternately, plan on an accompanying piece to make an interactive pair for future completion or a two piece client’s commission.
Foam forms may not be previously cut for alterations.
Reference lines are acceptable.
All wrapping must be done during competition.
Natural bones must be clean.
Glass eye may be installed during competition.
Premade cast parts may be used. Examples: nose, mouth parts, ear liners, toes, tail.
Clean skeletons may be prewired.
The finished form must be mountable.
Wire, threaded rod, et cetera, may be preformed.
Premade habitat bases are allowed.
Images are offered for ideas. Basic alterations, completed within 4 hours yet visually interesting.
After your four hour contest, take your manikin home, when convenient test fit, adjust, and mount. We’d love to see your now mounted piece the following year! And, you’ll have images taken by NTA staff to provide to next year’s judge panel.
